Not only was it complete honor and pleasure to meet author, Dave Eggers, but, to then find out that he loves Poketo and gives Poketo wallets as gifts on friends’ birthdays. That’s rad! No doubt they are the Poketo x 826 wallets we collaborated on this time last year. And yes, that is Spike Jonze. You can see Angie is all smiles.

October 1st held the the big 826LA fundraising bash. They hosted an exclusive pre-screening of Where The Wild Things Are and after party at Space15Twenty. This is where we had a long conversation with Dave about 826LA, the kids they service, and how we need to grow its support in LA.

For those who don’t know, 826 is a national, non-profit creative writing and tutoring center for youth. 826LA needs volunteers–tutors, mentors, teacher, art makers–you got what they need! Dave was talking with us about the need to get artists in there Echo Park space, create experiences, happenings, somehow make it our own. It was cool to have this kind of creative conversation the first time meeting him. Especially at a party, next to a crazy, wild things domes.

By the way, this is Chris Bettig. He was one of the guys on the team at Urban that actually built that dome and put the pop up shop together. If you have a chance, go and see this before it goes away.

From the turnout of hundreds, the party was a huge success. The Space15Twenty Gallery held an exhibition of numbered photographs and prints from the movie and behind the scenes. All of the pictures were magical, beautiful… I’d love to have them all nice and framed in the house. Best yet, all the proceeds go directly to 826! The exhibition is up until October 18th, so hurry.
